Celery Casserole

Ingredients

- 4 1/2 cups sliced celery
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 3/4 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1/8 cup chopped green pepper
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350. lightly grease or spray a casserole dish.
- 2 in a large skillet, saute sliced celery, chopped onion and sliced mushrooms in butter for about 15 minutes or until tender.
- 3 stir in flour, salt, black pepper and garlic powder; cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- 4 gradually add milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly.
- 5 add 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese and stir until melted. stir chopped green pepper.
- 6 pour into prepared baking dish and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
- 7 sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese and bake an additional 5 minutes.
- 8 serve.
