Basic Cheddar Sauce

Total Time: 15 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 cups skim milk
  • 2 ounces cheddar cheese, grated
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried mustard

Recipe

  • 1 melt butter in small sauce pan until it stops bubbling. add the flour, stir until fully incorporated. cook over medium heat until the roux browns slightly.
  • 2 add the milk slowly while whisking continually. cook and stir over medium high heat until the sauce bubbles, then remove from heat.
  • 3 add the cheese & mustard powder, stir gently until the cheese melts and incorporates completely. season to taste.
