Amazing Double Chocolate Truffles

Total Time: 5 hrs 20 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 5 hrs

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 6 ounces semisweet baking chocolate, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup whipping cream
  • 12 ounces chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons shortening

Recipe

  • 1 melt baking chocolate in a heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly.
  • 2 remove from heat.
  • 3 add butter and cream and stir until smooth.
  • 4 refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • 5 roll mixture into one inch balls.
  • 6 place on an aluminum foil baking sheet and freeze for 4 hours.
  • 7 melt chocolate and shortening over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  • 8 dip frozen truffles into chocolate and return to baking sheet.
  • 9 roll in sprinkles or nuts, if desired.
  • 10 refrigerate for 10-15 minutes for coating to set.
  • 11 store in an airtight container.
