Caramelised Onion Sauce

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 40 g butter
  • 2 medium red onions, sliced finely
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Recipe

  • 1 melt butter in a small pan and add sliced onion. cook on medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring.
  • 2 add sugar and stir through for a further 15 minutes until very dark brown in colour.
  • 3 this recipe is excellent mixed with red wine jus gravy!
  • 4 it is also a lovely compliment to savoury puff pastry dishes, pizza and most roast meats.
