Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 dash pepper
- 1 cup milk
- 3/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese
Recipe
- 1 melt butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat;
- 2 add flour, salt and pepper, stirring until smooth. cook 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- 3 gradually add milk, cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
- 4 add cheese; stir until cheese melts.
- 5 yield: 1 1/4 cups.
