Buttermilk Cornbread

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 450*.
  • 2 heat oil in 8" cast iron skillet for 5 minutes.
  • 3 combine dry ingredients.
  • 4 stir together buttermilk and egg.
  • 5 add buttermilk mixture and hot oil from skillet to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened.
  • 6 pour into hot skillet.
  • 7 bake 20 minutes.
