Buttermilk Cornbread

Ingredients

- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3/4 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 450*.
- 2 heat oil in 8" cast iron skillet for 5 minutes.
- 3 combine dry ingredients.
- 4 stir together buttermilk and egg.
- 5 add buttermilk mixture and hot oil from skillet to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened.
- 6 pour into hot skillet.
- 7 bake 20 minutes.
