Buttermilk Chocolate Bread

Ingredients

- 1/2 cup margarine, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup pecans, chopped
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
- 2 tablespoons honey
Recipe
- 1 cream margarine and sugar in large mixing bowl.
- 2 blend in eggs and buttermilk, mixing well after each addition.
- 3 add flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, mixing until just moistened.
- 4 stir in pecans.
- 5 grease bottom of 5 x 9-inch loaf pan.
- 6 pour batter into prepared pan.
- 7 bake at 350 degrees for 55 to 65 minutes or until bread tests done.
- 8 let cool for 15 minutes in pan before removing.
- 9 combine butter, chocolate sryup and honey in small bowl, mixing well.
- 10 spread icing over cooled bread before slicing.
