Buttermilk Chocolate Bread

Ingredients

  • Servings: 15
  • 1/2 cup margarine, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Recipe

  • 1 cream margarine and sugar in large mixing bowl.
  • 2 blend in eggs and buttermilk, mixing well after each addition.
  • 3 add flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, mixing until just moistened.
  • 4 stir in pecans.
  • 5 grease bottom of 5 x 9-inch loaf pan.
  • 6 pour batter into prepared pan.
  • 7 bake at 350 degrees for 55 to 65 minutes or until bread tests done.
  • 8 let cool for 15 minutes in pan before removing.
  • 9 combine butter, chocolate sryup and honey in small bowl, mixing well.
  • 10 spread icing over cooled bread before slicing.
