faux peanut sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onion
  • 3 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup tamari sauce
  • 3 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1/2 cup salted almond butter

  • heat sesame oil in a saucepan over medium heat. cook and stir green onions, sesame seeds, garlic, and red pepper flakes in hot oil until fragrant and onions start to soften, 2 to 3 minutes. stir chicken broth, tamari sauce, vinegar, sugar, and curry powder into onion mixture; bring to a simmer. whisk in almond butter and stir until thickened, about 5 minutes.
