Butter Almond Crunch

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sliced almonds
  • 3/4 cup shredded sweetened coconut
  • 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Recipe

  • 1 combine almonds and coconut.
  • 2 spread in a thin layer over bottom of a buttered 13 x 9-inch pan.
  • 3 melt butter or margine in a saucepan.
  • 4 stir in the rest of the ingredients.
  • 5 cook, without stirring until mixture comes to soft crack stage, 290 degrees f.
  • 6 remove from heat and pour in a thin stream evenly over almonds and coconut.
  • 7 cool.
  • 8 break into pieces.
  • 9 store in an air-tight container.
